Dire Straits Ringtones
The history began in London, where three friends shared the room. Two brothers Mark and David Knopfler and John Illsly. Mark worked as a school teacher, David was a social worker and John worked in a record store.
They joned his friend Pick Withers who was the only one that was introduced into the world of music. He had experience as a musician, having participated in some groups.
In 1977 Pick and Mark decided to create a group. Pick suggested the name: ‘Dire Straits’, something like ‘extreme situation’.

Four band members recordered a demo. In it, four themes: ‘Wild West End’, ‘Water Of Love’, ‘Sacred Loving’ and ‘Sultans Of Swing’.
When a popular disc jockey on a radio station in London pricked the model in their station, the audience reaction was very favorable, Oblogo – the jockeycontinued issuing the music of Knopfler and company.
Among the listeners of the station was a popular manager Fonogram, in search of new talent, who does not stop until he gets two Dire sign a contract with his company. The same representative Fonogram presents a representative for their concerts.
The Dire Straits act as openers of the American group ‘Talking Heads’, on tour in Britain, allowing them to gain experience and make themselves known. Among all the notes of the group were guitarist Mark Knopfler, who presents us with extraordinary sounds from blues and the rock.
In 1978 Dire Straits released their first album, ‘Dire Straits’. Shortly after starting to do solo concerts, even outside the United Kingdom. Unfortunately, record sales are not too high.

With ‘Lover Over Gold’ give a new twist to his style, more air that Mark likes to follow. A disc with almost orchestral sounds, although on the basis of rock.
In 1984 comes to light ‘Alchemy’, a selection of ten songs collected from the group’s live concerts on the last year tour.
In late 1984, Dire Straits are enclosed in preparing its new album. The recording of this new album will take several months and they collaborating artists such as Sting. The new album is titled “Brothers In Arms’ and be their best selling album worldwide, with songs like ‘So Far Away’, ‘Money For Nothing’, ‘Walk Of Life’, etc.
The tour of the album ‘Brothers In Arms’ meant to repeat the successes of the disc. It lasted two years and gave 250 concerts worldwide.
The following was a compilation of their best songs and ‘Money For Nothing “was the title chosen.
In 1991 Dire Straits released ‘On Every Street’, which did not cover the expectations generated by the previous titles and has been, to date, the last of the Dire Straits. Although not definitely announced their separation, the truth is I do freelance work. For example, Mark Knopfler has released several albums with his guitar, several of them as soundtracks for movies.
